a saturday surprise…

Marcie Scudder is one of those people who is good at everything, a renaissance woman. Her photography amazes me every time I visit her site, and she is an absolute master at choosing titles for them!

Like me, she shares a desire to live in the moment and seek out the beauty
in the everyday. Her nature photography is so unique and sublime,
I am sure she must have infinite amounts of patience!

I am honored to be featured in an interview today over at
Marcie’s blog: www.marciescudderphotography.com.

Would so love it if you stopped over to say hello!

for the birds

This has been a crazy, crazy week, I have been working
almost around the clock.

Which is kind of for the birds…

But sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do…

It’s officially autumn. We are gathering firewood for the winter,
and sitting by the fire with a good book
sounds really good right about now.

Actually, sitting anywhere with a good book sounds nice…

Gotta get back to work, if you get a chance, stop back tomorrow
for a little something different…

What are your plans for the weekend?

Tell me something fun!

heading south

It’s that time of year, change in the air, and some of my bird friends
have a long journey before them.

It has been chilly, chilly here already, down into the 40s
at night already a couple of times.

(I had to break out the socks!)

We drove to our cabin the other night up in the hills,
and the leaves have already begun to change.

Change is the one thing we can always count on, right?

I like that.

pretty in pink

I spent the weekend working, I was a given a rush project by a client who was in a bit of a pickle, and since I really, really, really need a new computer and to upgrade all my software, I said yes.

But I didn’t peek my head out from behind the computer all weekend.

I have so much to do (as always) and not enough time to do it.

There are weeds the size of small trees in my garden. (I’m not kidding). It’s time to get out the fall decorations. I need to get more things listed on etsy. It’s time to get out the long sleeved shirts and the flannel pajamas.

It’s time to stack firewood. And put the fans and air conditioners away. Almost time to close the storm windows.

My house needs a very thorough cleaning. I am behind on laundry. My mailbox needs replacing. That one last section of the house needs painting. The basement needs to be swept, the windows need to be washed.

I need to schedule an appointment with my doctor about my migraines. And one with my dermatologist about that spot on my face, and one with the dentist for a cleaning.

I really need to sew a new slipcover for the chair in the living room. And replace the rug on the floor. The woodwork all needs repainting, and there’s that squeaky hinge on the door.

Not to mention that the holidays are right around the corner!

Whew! Well, you get the picture.

Perhaps what I really need to do most of all…

is stop and smell the flowers.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

How was your weekend?

kiss me over the garden gate

is one of the best flower names ever

and it’s also

a plant that grows where it wants to

you can’t transplant it

can’t force it to grow

in one place

when it wants to grow

somewhere else

kind of

just exactly like

love.

Happy Wednesday to everyone!

making hay while the sun shines

We had a good show this past weekend, thanks to everyone who stopped by! It’s always nice to see familiar faces and to meet new jewelry lovers.

The weather was incredible for most of the weekend, a brief rain on Sunday afternoon kept it from being perfect, but it’s hard to complain about sunny and 75 degrees! So thank you, Mother Nature, for being kind to us.

I am exhausted. Both from getting ready for the show and a stint of insomnia that decided to pay me a visit this weekend. But the sun is shining, and in truth, I have so little to complain about.

Don’t forget, the necklace giveaway posted here is open until midnight tonight! All you have to do is leave a comment on that post to be entered!

Watch for a sale announcement sometime later this month!

September 9, 2011

for me…

the winding down of summer comes with

anemone’s in the garden,

our biggest show of the year,

cooler than usual temperatures,

leaves just beginning to turn yellow,

hummingbirds storing as much energy as they can gather,

tall grasses beginning to bloom.
