Each tree is unique.
Fragile beauty held aloft by strong arms.

Silver and gold…
At night, my mercury glass collection looks golden in the light.

A morning moon to dance with the sun
in a field of clouds and rays.
Another glorious day to cherish,
warmth on my skin before snow settles in.
December’s gifts come in every color.

December brings stars and sparkles to the party,
and Mother Nature brings a fabulously warm day.
And though I have been wishing for snow,
that still-green grass just outside my window looks lovely.
This day is a gift I will take advantage of, for a run or at least a walk,
and perhaps even a bit more tidying up in the garden.

Today is decorating day. Boxes will be opened, old friends
greeted with smiles, new scents will fill the air.
Christmas carols will echo through the rooms,
or favorite old movies will keep me company as I work.
My husband thinks I’m crazy to go to all this trouble.
And I will make a big mess.
But it’s all worth it.
The month of December will look more sparkly
and magical than any other month of the year.
At night, after everyone has gone to bed, I will sit on the couch
in front of the fire with fairy lights for company.
It will be all I need.

The first gift of December,
a light sprinkling of snow on my tiny garden tree,
a red fox sprinting through the yard as we pulled into the driveway,
a rabbit that got away, this time,
the quiet sound of a winter night,
breathing in the scent of cold and snow and ice,
the lovely glow of fairy lights.

It was quite the November, all of it passing by in a whirling dervish of activity.
Fun, fabulous, wonderful activity.
I’m sure that December will be much the same, just as it always is.
Don’t forget to stop every so often and turn your face to the sun for a moment.
Breathe, reach for the sky, stretch.
Relax.
Soon, it will be time to go into hibernation mode, which I admit,
for me, is not so very different from everyday mode.
But I look forward to the quiet days of winter.
Snow blowing outside, fire raging inside.
Just a tiny bit of extra time to relax into life.
And I look forward to December, and the
happy hustle bustle of holiday making.

Because it has been that kind of year.

Oh, that weekend went much to quickly, even though it was a long one!
We had a lovely holiday, I hope you did as well.
On Saturday, my family threw a big birthday bash for me and my father.
He is 75 today, and I will be 50 tomorrow. It was great fun,
I have the best friends and family. The best.
I spent the day yesterday adding new things to the etsy shop,
(and I still have many more to add).
It is Monday, after all–Cyber Monday–and so of course
