the holly and the ivy
I hope you had the most wonderful of holidays! I have to say, we had one of the best in years, lots of family time, plenty of good food and much laughter. Our two out-of-town children just left this morning, and now the house seems quiet and a little bit empty.
Today, finally, the snow has arrived. It is blustery and very cold, and I plan to make a fire and grab a book and enjoy a little down time. I always look forward to this week between Christmas and New Year’s, one of the only times I am able to take a full week off from work and simply relax.
I am looking forward to a new year, not that 2011 was a bad year, but for some reason, it felt like an off year. I felt slightly out of step right from the beginning, and I am ready to clear my dance card and start again, fresh.
I don’t really believe in resolutions, it always feels like setting myself up for failure. But I did choose a word, and that was “words.” I want to write more. To focus on that more. To devote more time to it.
And I want to stop running out of time and start running into it.
Yes.
That’s it, exactly.
With arms wide open.

I plan for a safe and happy return to the work force 😉
Love your snowy photo! enjoy your quiet week – I feel the same way – we had a fantastic Christmas but now I am thinking about new beginnings – it’s a great feeling! Happy New Year!
I’m so glad you had a good Christmas! 🙂
Actually, I have one big “resolution” for the rest of my life: I’m no longer going to be “too busy,” “running behind,” and slipping into the hopeless feeling of “running out of time.”
From now on, there’s plenty of time. 🙂
(PS: writing more is a good thing! AND, because I keep forgetting to tell you, “The Sound of Paper” is excellent. Thank you for recommending it!)
Kelly: This is a marvelous image. Love the dreaminess of it. Yes, it is a new year to look forward to all things: dreams, accomplishments, abundance. Are you taking Ali Edwards’ One Little Word 2012. I chose abundance for my word. So looking forward to that journey in creating something spectacular! Best to you with your words. laf
to stop running out of time, and to start running into it… that is a great plan. wishing you all the best for the new year.
I’m loving this week of quiet…of re-grouping and re-focusing. Your words are forever inspiring. Still struggling with that ‘perfect’ word…but maybe that’s all a part of this process???
lovely thoughts … best wishes for a wonder filled new year!!
