new pretties…

I’m trying to spend some time during these cold winter months getting new things loaded on to the etsy shop (here).

I think I’ve finally found a photo style that I like, what do you think?

More to come soon, hopefully!

.

The sun is shining today, and even though it’s only 10° out there, at least it warms the heart.

I spent the weekend catching up on listings and correspondence and life. A female blue bird landed just outside my window yesterday.

Blue sky, blue bird, red cardinal. I’ll take all the color I can get.

.

Wishing you a week filled with sunshine.

white valentine

be-mine-tbm

.

There are almost always flowers on my kitchen table.

Lately, there is almost always snow that needs shoveling.

White on white today, this day to celebrate love,
love in all its many forms and manifestations.

Even if it is a corny, commercial holiday,
I can never see it as a bad thing.

Love.

Of course we should celebrate it every day,
and I’m fairly certain that most of us do.

But today is the day to say it out loud.

Love.

I heart you, love.

I do.

.

Happy Valentine’s Day to my love,
the most interesting man in the world.

.

And Happy Valentine’s Day to you.

May it be filled with (of course) love.

in my eyes

i see the cold and the magic

the ice and the glitter

the dark and the light

the bitter and the sweet

it’s all there, just outside the window

life’s never-ending

winter white, window light

.

Fighting February, this month of grey and hibernation.

Cocooning. Books and blazing fires, comfort food and cozy nights.

It’s a cycle that circles and holds me in its pattern

and I come to understand that I am the weaver,

this tapestry is never finished,

there is always dark then light,

black then white,

then color, color, color.

Acceptance.

.

I fill the days with tasks and time

and the nights

with dreaming.

.

In the mornings, my hands are always empty.

Resiliency (or what I’ve learned from a house plant)

So, I have this plant in my studio, on a shelf above my desk. One of the few house plants I keep these days, because, as you can see, I am not good with house plants.

Which is a bit funny because I have a huge garden, and two green thumbs when it comes to everything I plant outside, but when it comes to indoor plants, I am the worst.

But this plant, this peace lily, I’ve had for 20-some-odd years. And yes, it’s still this small because I’ve almost killed it so many times that it has never grown any larger.

I only ever remember to water it when I look up (which obviously isn’t very often) and see it drooping the way it is in this photo.

At one point, a few years back, it only had two leaves, and I was literally on my way to the garbage can with it, but then, I stopped.

I couldn’t do it.

This plant is tough. A fighter. And we’ve been together a long time.

So I re-potted it, vowed to take better care of it, (snort) and gave it another chance.

Because, hey, it’s given me more chances than I deserve.

We’ve never given up on each other.

And there’s something to be said for that.

the fragile light of yesterday

It’s frigid outside. Frigid.

But the sun is shining this morning, a bunny forages for stray seed, and this hydrangea, with last year’s petals hanging on, stands tall.

Fragile is always stronger than you think.

Resiliency comes in many forms.

Life shines through, always.

And at the end of this week, another crazy, busy, rushing-through-life week, that is enough.

A tiny smile for a rabbit, a flower, the sun.

Enough.
