Blue is aqua and ocean, cobalt and turquoise.

Blue is the color of the sand man’s eye.

Blue is woven through stars, the hue of reflection.

Blue is bells and berries and sometimes the moon.

Blue is tiny and tidy and keeps to itself.

Blue is periwinkle dreams, hopes of delphinium.

Blue is birds and beaches, shadows and thirst.

Blue is lapis lazuli, azure, heaven.

Blue is calm and gentle, embracing the sun.

Blue is soulful and mournful and deeper than midnight.

Blue is peacock and sapphire, heron and heartache.

Blue is navy eternity, quiet and waiting.

Blue is indigo, whispers, a sigh.

or too much sunshine

and green, well, green can be everywhere

like air

and birdsong can fill everything

to overflowing

and even rain

can’t wash away

a daffodil’s color.

on a clean desk

in a clean room

and suddenly

it feels like spring

if you aren’t careful, you will miss them,
these tiny, tiny flowers on the path outside my door

but just look at all that color
all that promise
all that life

just whispering
pay attention

wishing you a weekend filled with promise

because it’s there.

though i’ve yet to see a dandelion

but the sun is shining (again)

and shoots are poking up

through the cold, wet earth

and the birds are busy, busy

living life the way birds do

and the darkness (my friend)

gives way to the light

because we all yield eventually

closed when there is open

just beneath the (surface)

there aren’t always flowers

and some days are dark

but even there

beauty can be found

the earth awakens
