JEWELRY

life is a kaleidoscope
of joy and disappointment
laughter and sorrow
smile and heartache
.
but every so often
all the pieces fall together
and all you can see
is the light

After a long day of waiting and wondering…
it’s a girl!
And we are just thrilled.
And now I’m a grandma.
A new hat to wear.
I think I’ll choose purple.

Wishing you a weekend filled with joy.

sun on my skin
dirt under my nails
bird song and crickets
tree frog and moon
.
it was a pretty
full weekend
.
food for the soul

.
Because it’s May and
the sun is shining
and there are flowers and
April, well, April is over,
and Spring marches on, marches in,
with little puffy clouds and
long swaths of grass
and today everywhere
there is color.
The sky blushes dawn
and the earth giggles green
and together we’ll knit
a new day.

I made it through a six-day migraine and then my dog got sprayed with a skunk.
That pretty much sums it up in one sentence.
But that doesn’t include the whole day spent trying to clean up skunk-smell, because somehow my husband let the dog back in the house without realizing what had happened and the dog ended up on our bed, or the fact that this all happened at 4:30 in the morning, or the fact that the smell made my headache come back, and I’m already way behind on my work… but you get the point. It was a long week. A real week.
Another reminder the Mother Nature always wins.
And sometimes, all you can do is laugh.
The daffodils in this photo spent the winter under a five-foot-high pile of snow. And even so, they will bloom.
And as
And there you have it.

Wishing you a weekend filled with laughter.

the cardinal sings songs of spring
and yellow daffodils peek shy heads up
from beneath brown earth’s cold ground
.
a pair of romantic bluebirds
drop bits of sky and flakes of ochre
as they consider building a nest

green grows bold with the tender swagger
of innocent adolescence
holding parties on the lawn that mother cleaned
